Community & Economic Development Activities

Pressures on local governments for increasing services and opportunities are being felt throughout the BRADD. In helping to meet those demands, the Community & Economic Development Dept. is working with local governments to more fully utilize existing facilities and local opportunities. It was recently announced that the Barren Co. Fiscal Court will receive funds for rehabilitation of the existing Ralph Bunch Community Center. Also announced was that the City of Lewisburg will receive funds for the construction of a new fire station to serve the city and rural volunteer fire departments. Both of the funded projects were derived from Community Development Block Grant applications prepared by the BRADD.

Staff additionally provided administration to previously funded projects. Some of those include the Monroe County Family Wellness Center with the Phase 2 portion nearing completion. Also administration began on a water line extension project for the Green River Valley Water District.
