Beginning TODAY, we're joining the Trager Institute in encouraging our neighbors across the region to participate in the County Walk Challenge!This statewide walking initiative is taking place September 1–30, and encourages people across Kentucky to incorporate more walking into their daily lives throughout the month of September. Walk wherever and whenever you want (safely) - whether it's around your neighborhood, at a local park, during a lunch break, or with family and friends. International Overdose Awareness Day is about more than remembering those that we have lost - it also means continuing the hard work that it takes to fight against substance use in our communities. Our Office of Drug Control Policy is doing just that.Yesterday, we were proud to expand our Recovery Backpack Program to include Hart County, and to restock the supply of recovery backpacks in Allen County. With Hart County on board, 9 of our 10 BRADD counties are equipped with these backpacks in their jails, giving those working towards reentry the first steps to a safe, productive start at a new life. As always, thank you to the Southern Kentucky Reentry Council for making these opportunities possible!While in Allen County, we were lucky to join the VH Dream Center, City of Scottsville - The Friendly City, and Allen County Fiscal Court in officially recognizing August 31 as International Overdose Awareness Day, remembering those we have lost, standing with our loved ones in their grief, and committing to continue working towards prevention and recovery. ...

Today, BRADD staff wore purple to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day.For 25 years, International Overdose Day has honored people who have died from overdose and called us to prevention. BRADD is committed to battling the impacts of overdose to our friends, family, neighbors, and greater community. We're working every day to save lives through our regional Office of Drug Control Policy, organizing initiatives like the Anchor Project and the Recovery Backpack Program.
